Book and Author Marketing
Without an organized marketing plan, even the very best new book won’t be seen by the public. Sales of a new title is directly proportional to an author’s ability to bring the title into national awareness. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of new titles being published each year. Your book must cut through the ‘noise’ of those many new books to reach its intended readers. Without an organized, well-planned market approach, this might be quite difficult.
Satiama Writers Resource has many years of expertise based on our experience as a successful publisher of highly awarded books and literary products. - Help you to decide how, when and where to advertise; help to create ads for your book with a common ‘look and feel’ and even handle ad placement
- Help to create a ‘one sheet’/sell sheet
- Help you to license your international rights to overseas publishers and distributors for foreign language versions of your book
- Prepare a comprehensive and customized marketing plan to reach your particular target market.
- Offer a short-term telephone sales program or other marketing program to specialty markets such as zoos, aquariums, hospital or airport gift shops, national park stores, museums, children’s toy stores, school or public libraries, or others.

Distribution
The big publishing houses have contracts with distributors, who sell their books on to bookstores (both physical and online stores) or they distribute and fulfill orders themselves. In the past, the major distributors were unwilling to distribute books from self-publishers, so they were left trying to persuade bookstores and retailers, one at a time, to stock their books. Some self publishers tried to sell them from websites, or by media advertising. Still others found themselves criss-crossing the country, books in hand. When sales did occur, they were confronted with the further problems of accepting credit cards, packing the order and taking it to the post office or other type of carrier for delivery. They also had to accept returns and deal with the occasional problem of a damaged shipment. They had no time to write their next book!
STORAGE AND DISTRIBUTION SERVICES
- Storage
Satiama Writers Resource will offer storage and insurance for your inventory in our climate-controlled, secure storage facility. Our price is based both on the value of your inventory and on the number of cartons we store. Rather than tripping over hundreds of cartons in your basement, garage or extra bedroom, we will store your inventory for fulfillment. This is generally less expensive than sending us a few cartons at a time for use in fulfilling order. We work with your printer to have your printed inventory delivered directly to us and provide you with as many cartons at your home location as you like. - Wholesale Distribution Through Satiama
We will offer the book for sale to our own very long list of independent bookstores and handle all packing, shipping and payment collection for those orders. - Distribution Through Our Own Major Distribution Contract
We will also present your title to our six major distributors, which include some of the largest distributors in North America and beyond. We ship your book to the distributors, based on purchase orders we receive from them. The distributors then resell them to bookstores, retailers and major book seller chains such as Books A Million, Barnes & Noble and more. - RETAIL SALES THROUGH SATIAMA.COM
We will offer your book for sale at Satiama.com and handle all online retail orders through Satiama.com for fulfillment.
